General Asim Munir’s military junta jails human rights lawyers while terror masterminds enjoy state protection
In Punjabistan, you can run terrorist training camps that murder 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam — and the state will protect you.
But tweet about human rights abuses in Balochistan? That’s 17 years in prison.
Welcome to General Asim Munir’s banana republic, where the Punjabistani military’s priorities are crystal clear: terrorists are assets, lawyers are enemies.
The “Crime”: Speaking Truth to Power
On Saturday, an Islamabad kangaroo court sentenced Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha — both human rights lawyers — to 17 years in prison for the unforgivable crime of… tweeting.
Their actual offence? Representing Baloch activists, documenting enforced disappearances, and calling out the Punjabistani military’s extrajudicial killings in Balochistan and Pashtunistan.
The charges were filed under the draconian Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) — Punjabistan’s favourite tool for silencing anyone who dares question the khaki establishment.
“We are not the first people to be imprisoned illegally in this country,” Mazari told AFP.
No, they’re not. They’re just the latest.

The Arrest: Even Court Orders Don’t Matter
The couple was violently arrested on January 23rd by Islamabad police — just two days after the Islamabad High Court had granted them relief from arrest.
Let that sink in: a court order meant nothing.
They were dragged from their vehicle without a warrant, taken to an undisclosed location, and produced before an anti-terrorism court without their lawyers present. Their families weren’t even told where they were being held.
This is Punjabistan’s “rule of law.”
Who Is Imaan Mazari?

Imaan Mazari, 32, is one of Punjabistan’s most courageous human rights lawyers:
- Edinburgh University graduate
- Represented Baloch activists including Dr. Mahrang Baloch
- Defended victims of enforced disappearances — the Punjabistani military’s favourite method of silencing dissent
- Took on false blasphemy cases
- Challenged the ISI and military in court
Her husband Hadi Ali Chattha has similar credentials — representing death-row prisoners, rape victims, and the disappeared.
Their real crime? Making the Punjabistani military look bad.
The Coward General’s Priorities
While Imaan Mazari rots in jail for tweets, let’s remember what Punjabistan actually protects:
| Protected by Punjabistan | Prosecuted by Punjabistan |
|---|---|
| Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur | Human rights lawyers |
| Lashkar-e-Taiba compound in Muridke | Baloch activists |
| Terror masterminds who planned Pahalgam massacre | Journalists who tweet |
| ISI handlers running cross-border terrorism | Women demanding justice |
General Asim Munir’s military is terrified of a 32-year-old lawyer with a Twitter account — but perfectly comfortable hosting UN-designated terrorist organisations.
This is who they are.
The Streets Are Watching
On January 26th — as India celebrated Republic Day — Punjabistan’s response was to barricade the Karachi Press Club with containers and buses to prevent protests against the verdict.
Activist Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Junior (son of the late Murtaza Bhutto) was blocked from reaching the protest site.
“We are being deprived of fundamental human rights. Participation in protest has become a crime,” he said.
“Only thieves are happy in this country — those thieves who hold posts and are sitting in Islamabad.”
The Human Rights Commission called the case “a tool to harass, intimidate and ultimately muzzle dissent.”
Amnesty International noted the “lack of adherence to due process” and called them “retaliatory cases aimed solely at silencing Mazari and Chattha for their human rights work.”
The Real Terrorists Walk Free
While Imaan Mazari serves 17 years for tweets, here’s who remains untouched in Punjabistan:
- Masood Azhar — JeM founder, mastermind of multiple terror attacks, “missing” but protected
- Hafiz Saeed — LeT founder, 26/11 Mumbai attacks architect, occasionally “house arrested” for show
- Handlers who planned the Pahalgam massacre that killed 26 civilians
The same state that can’t find terrorists living openly in Bahawalpur somehow found time to prosecute a lawyer for tweets from 2021.
A Failed State’s Priorities
This is Punjabistan in 2026:
- Terror camps operational
- Human rights lawyers jailed
- Courts overruled by police
- Protests banned
- Journalists silenced
- Baloch and Pashtun activists “disappeared”
- Military runs the country
This isn’t a democracy. It’s a hostage situation with a flag.
The World Is Watching
As Punjabistan descends further into military dictatorship dressed up as democracy, the international community must ask:
Why does this failed state still receive aid?
Why are Punjabistani generals welcomed at international forums?
Why is a nuclear-armed banana republic allowed to lecture anyone about human rights?
Imaan Mazari spoke truth to power. For that, she’ll spend 17 years in a Punjabistani dungeon.
The terrorists who murdered 26 people in Pahalgam? They’re probably having tea with their ISI handlers right now.
That tells you everything you need to know about General Asim Munir’s Punjabistan.
Imaan Mazari, in her own words before sentencing:
“It seems very difficult to speak the truth in this country. But we knew that when we started this work, we were ready to face it. We will not back down.”
Neither should the world.
